Tri Tilghman set for September 16, 2017

Tri Tilghman is a unique way to explore the Bay Hundred area of Talbot County, Maryland. This year the event will be held September 16, 2017.  This activity begins with a 3 mile kayak course that will start at the Knapp's Narrows Drawbridge, through the Narrows into Harris Creek and back to the start. After that, you will hop on your bicycle and complete an 8.2 scenic bike ride. Then cap off the event with a 3.1 mile (5k) run through the small village of Tilghman's Island.
You have the choice of participating in the entire event or to compete in any of the 3 challenges separately.
All of the challenges will start and finish at the new location of Phillips Wharf Environmental Center. There will be plenty of post-race activities for you and your family along with an opportunity to explore this little known gem of the Eastern Shore!
Event details and schedule
Packet Pickup begins on Race Day at 6:30am
Opening ceremonies for Tri Tilghman begin at 7:45AM and the official start for the event will be at 8:00AM. We will provide drinks on site but we encourage participants to bring enough water to stay hydrated during the event and don't forget your sunscreen! The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) is hosting its 20th annual Charity Boat Auction on Saturday, September 2, 2017 with proceeds benefiting the children and adults served by CBMM.
The live auction begins at 11am along CBMM’s waterfront campus, where more than 100 boats—ranging in size and performance from sailing dinghies to cabin cruisers, and everything in between—will be auctioned off to the highest bidders. CBMM’s Charity Boat Donation Program staff Todd Taylor and Josh Mills take donations and resells boats throughout the year, holding aside some of the inventory for the annual auction.
The event also includes a flea market-style tag sale from 9 a.m. till 11am in which guests are able to purchase a variety of used boating gear, including ground tackle, electrical equipment, hardware, rope or chain, ladders, fishing tackle, motors, and more.
Beginning at 10:30am, beer and barbecue will be available for purchase. Boat sales are on-going throughout the year, with all auction boats subject to sale prior to the auction. Auction boats will be available for inspection at the museum, several days prior to the auction.
Advance bids will be accepted, and can be called in at 410-745-4942 until 2pm on Friday, September 1.
For safety reasons, non-service dogs need to be kept home during CBMM festivals, including the Charity Boat Auction. Leashed dogs are only permitted on CBMM’s campus during non-festival days.

To donate a boat or items for the tag sale, or for a fully updated listing of the boats up for auction, please contact 410-745-4942 or email kwalpole@cbmm.org.
